Moderator Checklist
There will be a schedule of who is moderating which technical session at the registration desk, in case you forget your assignment.
Thank you for volunteering to be a session moderator at
CoNECD!
Your task is to contribute to a smooth start, flow and on-time ending of your session. There are just 10 minutes between sessions, so it is critical that we are expedient and respect each presenter’s time.
Contact information for the presenters of your session will be sent by January 27, 2025 (at the latest!!). If you have any questions related to your assignment, please email conecd.program@gmail.com.
Below are checklists for what to do prior to the conference and on the day of the session you are moderating.
Prior to the CoNECD Conference
Email the presenter(s) of the session(s) you are moderating to introduce yourself and request a brief bio (1 minute read time max)

On the day of the session
Immediately before the technical presentation session:
Be in room 5 mins before start time
Check-in with presenter, make sure they have what they need for AV needs* Confirm with presenter that you have the correct bio
Ask presenter if they would like you to moderate Q&A; verify amount of time they want for questions
Let presenter know you will be keeping time for them and giving them time warnings
At the start of the technical presentation session:
Welcome audience, state title of presentation, and share presenters’ names
Introduce lead presenter using brief bio provided by them
During the technical presentation session:
Keep time for presenter; provide 10-min and 5-min warnings
If presenter wants you to moderate Q&A, alert them when the time for Q&A has come Alert presenter when there are 5 mins left to conclude
At the end of the Q&A:
Thank presenter(s) and audience
Ask that audience and presenters vacate the room immediately so the next group can set up (there are 10 min between sessions and we must be expedient to respect each presenter’s time)
